You don't have to be athletic to complete a marathon. The 2nd Annual Toronto Novel Marathon takes place this weekend in support of Renascent, an abstinence-based addiction treatment centre for men, women and families with substance abuse issues.
You don't have to enter your writing in competition to participate, but if you do, a team of judges will award prizes in all genres and may even recommend your work for a sympathetic reading by a major Canadian publisher. Among those judges is Wolsak and Wynn's own Alexis von Konigslow, whose debut novel, The Capacity for Infinite Happiness, launched this past spring and is earning rave reviews.
There's still time to sign up and/or donate.
Writing begins at 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, and proceeds for 72 uninterrupted hours. So get your typing fingers ready – on your mark, get set, write!
