Mucho Mango

The clank and scrape of spoon on dish,

the clatter of metal on enamel,

and the slurp

of you

consuming a bowl of cut fruit

is music

there are no words for.

You, eating, are all percussion,

a solo performance

of total absorption and

animal abandon

that makes me so crazy

I forget, for the moment,

how mucho mango

sweet

           you be.
