Rachael Preston's award-winning novel The Fishers of Paradise takes place in the boathouse community on Dundas Marsh circa 1930. Originally self-published, the book won Hamilton Arts Council's Kerry Schooley Award in 2013 and will be re-released from Wolsak & Wynn's new imprint (more on this to come) later this spring.
On June 10, 2016, Project Bookmark Canada will unveil Bookmark #16 along Hamilton's Desjardins Recreational Trail, near where the novel is set and the boathouse community once stood. The Bookmarks celebrate Canadian literature and landscapes, both past and present, and are an important part of Canada's cultural heritage for future generations.
We hope you'll join Rachael as she launches the new edition of this unforgettable novel with appearances at gritLIT and Burlington Public Library in April, prior to celebrating her Bookmark in June.
On behalf of everyone at Wolsak & Wynn, we extend heartfelt congratulations to Rachael on this much-deserved honour, and thank you to Miranda Hill and everyone at Project Bookmark Canada.
