They've been years in the making – one of them, over a decade – and now they're just days away from your bookshelf. Wolsak and Wynn is excited to launch its new imprint, Buckrider Books, with three stunning debut titles: Erina Harris's The Stag Head Spoke, David Brock's Everyone is CO2, and D. D. Miller's David Foster Wallace Ruined My Suicide and Other Stories.
Like the Buckriders of legend from which the imprint takes its name (see below), these books challenge convention and risk an outlaw sensibility. They exemplify the vision of this new imprint, which is headed by our Senior Editor, Paul Vermeersch. Buckrider Books will publish two poetry titles and one fiction title each season.
Buckrider Books takes its name and colophon from the legend of de Bokkenrijders. These were thieves who made a pact with the devil and flew through the night on the backs of magical goats, robbing and pillaging farms and churches. The legend shares its Dutch and Flemish roots with imprint founder Paul Vermeersch and also honours the heritage of Wolsak and Wynn co-founder Maria Jacobs.
Join the authors, Wolsak and Wynn staff and fellow readers at our two spring launches: Wednesday, April 16, at The Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, and Thursday, April 17, at Words Worth Books in Waterloo. Details below.
